Don't laugh, I started out with the "Active Server Pages for Dummies". I will say in my defense that I had very little to start from (I wasn't taking any classes or anything, I just wanted to teach myself). After that I looked up several web tutorials as I went along designing my own scripts. www.w3schools.c om for example has a lot of good info. I think that as far as learning the basics, the Dummies book was fine, but I actually learned a lot just by trying to troubleshoot. If I had it to do over again, though, I think I would have started with a better book, maybe something that teaches a more structured programming method, SAMS is a publisher I would recommend, but I didn't actually read their asp book.

I would stay away from anything from Wrox. I find MSDN to be the best.
