    ASP Works/Not!

Can someone please help? I have for several years used PWS 3/4 to build web
pages, (HTML and ASP), using VBScript as a server side scripting language.
Once they are working OK, I upload them to our website. I have "upgraded" to
XP Pro and although the Web Site shows running, It will only display an ASP
page if it does not contain any SSI includes or VBScript. When trying to
load such a page IE sits for about three minutes then tells me the page
cannot be displayed. Once this occurs, the server then will only dish out
HTML pages. No more ASP, even benign ones. The event viewer shows no errors
related to ASP. I really need to get this going. I'm behind in my work now.

    Thanks

    Norton's script blocking perhaps.

Curt, I just got an error message from the Event Viewer. I got this before but have been trying to get it to repeat all morning with no luck until now. The mesage follows:
The description for Event ID ( 5 ) in Source ( Active Server Pages ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: File /localstart.asp Unexpected error. A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running..

Also Norton Script blocking is turned off.

        Thanks

Curt, Aaron, Thanks for your speedy response and help. Unfortunately nothing
yet seems to be working. I finally located a phone number for MS support and
I'm going to give them a call. Thanks again

              I'd reinstall IIS first.

You've tried a plain "Hello World!" ASP page? Norton's script
blocking, URLScan installed with the IIS Lockdown Tool, or just didn't
allow scripts in the folder? Uninstall IIS if you upgraded with PWS
on there, reinstall IIS clean and try again. Perhaps even a clean
install of XP Pro, upgrades can do funny things.
