    Host online or Host Offline?

Hi, I would like help to get started on an idea. I have prior knowledge of
how to do this so please be gentle with me as I am a complete beginner when
    it comes to ASP.

I have a website hosted by an internet host and want to add a PHPBB2 forum
hosted on my own server. What I would like to introduce to my website is
    something like this

The forum is online (with a little green image) OR

The forum is OFFLINE (with a little red image)

I have no idea how to or where to get started on this.

Can anyone offer a sample script please?

    Regards

    Malcolm

If you have prior knowledge, how come you are a complete beginner?

    "PHPBB2" would be PHP?

Then it is not ASP, where does ASP come in?

Neither do I, since the info you give is conflicting.

Sorry, I do not speak PHP.
    Perhaps a PHP NG. Malcolm?

      Sorry that was a TYPO

I have NO prior Knowledge on how to do this!

It makes no difference if the remote location is PHP, ASP or HTML as the
questions is how to use ASP to display one of 2 variables!!

My site hosted HERE wants to display one of 2 icons should the remote host
      HERE be online or offline?

      As above.

        So your host has ASP?

        No ASP necessary!

You've been here for help a couple of times now, and yet you thought it
was appropriate to spam the newsgroup with other irrelevant stuff about
bank charges. You should consider yourself very fortunate indeed if
you get any help here again in the future.

Please accept my sincere apology for any offence caused by submitting "Spam"
to your newsgroup Mike. You people have helped me and I thought that I could
also help you! Bank charges are an evil scourge on poor innocent people from
all over. I honestly thought that no one would object to this?

Please accept my sincere apology, I would like to offer to place a link or
add to your news group on the main page of the site.

Should you wish to accept I would be most grateful?
