Windows 11 and Access Combo Box Issue

Was curious if anyone else was having this same issue or not....

I was just Up/Down graded to windows 11 and now my access combo boxes are not acting right. With win 10 I could start typing something in the combo box on a form and it would auto complete. Now in windows 11 it starts to do it but stops after a couple of characters being typed in. It seems to do this when there are a lot of items to pick from in the combo box.

If you had this issue, what did you do to fix it?

    Hi DJ.

I can't be much help with this issue directly, but I hope you manage to find some help. I've avoided the up/downgrade myself as I'm not a big fan of re-learning how my computer works every time someone at Microsoft gets bored with their experience.

That said, I see there's enough clear information here for someone with the relevant experience to offer their help. I would add one tip perhaps, and that would be to post a picture of your system status as shown by isladogs' article Access/Windows/Office365 Version Checker. This is a relatively new article and can prove enormously helpful whenever versions become an issue.

This issue seems to have fixed itself with the latest Office update. This can now be closed out.

I was also facing the same issue with combo boxes in Windows 11 on my AMD Ryzen laptop, but I managed to fix it. Here’s how I resolved it:

Update Windows and Drivers: First, I made sure that my Windows 11 and all drivers were up-to-date. I went to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and installed any available updates. I also updated my graphics and chipset drivers through the Device Manager.

Reinstall the Affected Application: Since the problem was occurring with a specific application, I decided to reinstall it. I uninstalled the application from Settings > Apps > Apps & features, then reinstalled the latest version from the official website.

Check for Application-Specific Updates: The application in question had its own update mechanism. I checked for updates within the app itself and applied any that were available.

Adjust Compatibility Settings: I experimented with running the application in compatibility mode. Right-clicking the application’s shortcut, I went to Properties > Compatibility and tried different settings. This helped address some compatibility issues.

Reset or Repair the Application: In Settings > Apps > Apps & features, I selected the application and used the Advanced options to perform a Repair. This action helped fix any corrupted files or settings within the app.

Check for Conflicting Software: I checked for any recently installed software that might be conflicting with the application. Uninstalling or disabling such software resolved some of the issues.

By following these steps, I was able to resolve the combo box issue on my AMD Ryzen laptop running Windows 11. If you’re experiencing similar problems, I recommend trying these solutions, as they might help you fix the issue as well.
