Run 64bit MS Word from 32bit access

I have a 32bit access application that I call MS Word to do a mail merge. One of my clients got a 64bit version of MS Office (she didn't know better), now when she tries to do the mail merge she gets an error that say something like ... not registered. Is there a way to start a 64bit version of MS Word from my application. I will still need the app to start the 32bit version of MS Word, so I need to be able to tell if the Word version is 64bit or 32bit.
    Thanks for any help

I have never actually worked with this bit myself, but from all I've heard and read on forums, the answer is NO.
I would recommend to her re-installing to 32 bit. 32 bit is still the recommended version by Microsoft.

      TheSmileyCoder is correct.

The 32 bit version will not invoke the 64 bit versions and it will be hit or miss for the 64 bit versions to open the 32 bit data files. If the 64 bit does open the file, the file will be converted over to the 64 bit format at that time; thus, preventing the 32 bit versions from re-opening the file afterwards.
