Queries keep disappearing

I've been plagued recently by the content of specific queries disappearing. I have to periodically go into a backup; copy the sql; and paste the content into the the query body. Not all of my queries have this problem. In fact it seems to be limited to a very specific population. Is this a recompilation issue or something else that is going on?

Query SQL can be changed from within programs. What is the history of this database? Did you write it? When this happens, do you examine the last modified date of the query to see when the problem might have happened?

The first thing I would do would be a compact and repair. Then I would go into the VBA editor and do a global search for the name of the query. Find all references to it. Read the code to see if any area of code might be editing the SQL of the query.

Are there other Access databases on the system? One could even write code in one DB to update the queries in another.
