How to set up Microsoft Access database on one computer and sync/link it to another l

I'm setting up a database for a small company that needs to track leads, quotes and sales. There should be 1500 - 2500 leads per year. We have two home offices and need to both be able to access the database or minimally update it daily. Is this possible with Microsoft Access? What if the two computers use different versions of Microsoft access? Is there a better (non costly) suggestion?

Heaps of thanks for any replies or expertise.

    Kathryn,

First, usage of the same version of Access is almost a absolute necessity, as minor variations in the versions can cause sometimes catastrophic results.

If you do not have a network set up, the only way you could work this is to move the data back and forth, which I definitely do not recommend. It is possible, though, but you would have to build in some extensive code to import any changes from one data set to the other and back again. I had to do this for a while with a database that I inherited and it was a pain until we could get it properly established on a network.

    Just my two cents....

As long as both PCs have access (small a) to the same location for storing the data itself it should be possible even with different versions of the Front End. Undoubtedly it would be more complicated, but possible. Of course, any non-local network link to a back-end is known to be somewhat fraught so I would generally advise a remote link into a single PC (or at least LAN) that is set up to handle multiple users. As long as the FE process itself is 'local' to the BE then any distance between the FE and any managing station is of little importance.

Of course, with such a set-up the versions of Access (large A) are likely to be the same anyway.
