Forms, SubForms, and ComboBox

I'm really stuck. I have db that should track expenses for different branches. the main form header has a combo box to select which branch. the subform displays the current expense information that has been created.

The main form detail contains the expense category (combo box), the expense category detail (combo box). I can add information and it appears in the subform correctly. when I try to select a line in the subform to edit the contents, no information flows up to the combo boxes. I was hoping to click a line in the subform and have the expense category and expense category detail populate in the main form detail so a new selection can be made.

I don't even know if I'm making sense... I'm to deep in it
Thanks for any thoughts... I have a small zip of the db if that would help

Sorry to take so long to get to your question; however, it took me a few reads to understand.

I'm going to suggest the following list of articles in our insight's section. These deal with filtering and cascading comboboxes. Now, I don't know your level/background with DB/VBA so if you're really new, these might read a bit scary; however, take your time and if you don't understand something just post back here and one of us should be able to walk you thru the rough spots.

Just a tip, as I found your post quite hard to make sense of - try to take a step back from the confusion a little bit before trying to describe where you're at and what you're looking for help on. Also, break it down into discrete pieces if you can. Make a new thread for each different question as it's so much easier to work with a small problem than one complicated and overpowering one.

Many of us here can help with the technical aspects of Access quite easily, but unless we can make decent sense of what you actually want help with we won't be of much use to you. That would be a shame as what you really want is probably quite straightforward .
