Access vs. Excel, graphs and datastorage

    Hallo,
I've just recently started a new project and having trouble choosing the way to go.

The main task is to create a summery from statistical data from the web, this i have to be made so it can be done auotimaticly so the user dosn't have to go over all the internet scources and retrieve the data themself.

Then from the that data i will create a summary containing several graph who must be a printable standard report and connected to powerpint for standard presentations. The summary will also need to retrive data from a privious access database.

My employer is more comfortable with excel but
I beleive that Access is the way to go however I'm worried about how it will handle so many graphs at once in one form and report? Will it be possible or will the computer just crash, i've had some problem with that in previous projects? But im also worried about using excel because of the lack of databasestructu ring tools and im not sure if i can make inte get the required information from internet?

Do you have any argument for which one i should start working with?
    What do you guys think?

There are a few ways to reach your goal:
Use Access as your data warehouse. You can then use some of the vba code methods to query and pull data for your worksheets and/or powerpoint presentations or you can link to the data from within Excel or Powerpoint.

You'll find this insight article to be a useful starting point: 159. Application Automation

Here's one such example for power point: Working with PowerPoint Presentations from Access Using Automation (Office 2003) I would think simular methods are in place for V2007 and V2010; however, I've not had to do something like this for either version as of yet!
