"An error occurred while initializing the access database"

I am trying to publish a database to my companies sharepoint site. I don't have the details about the sharepoint, but i am confidant that Access Services would most probably be setup correctly in our sharepoint.

i keep getting the error: "An error occurred while initializing the access services database"

this doesn't tell me anything, is the problem with the sharepoint or with my database?

    can anyone help?

First, did you run compatibility checker? The DB must be a web DB in order to publish to sharepoint.

Then the service is probably not enabled or configured. Access Services in Sharepoint are an optional component.

Ah and welcome to Microsoft... the answers are always correct and usually totally useless.

You don't state what version of Access and sharepoint you are using. There will be slightly different ways to get them to work with each other... so, working on the premis that you have 2010, Please start here:

          ( and a SUPPER simple youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq-tDuPfgZc )

Sorry not to have more for you at this time... on vacation and my reference books are at home :(

You WILL want to find a book, Amazon, B&N, etc... dealing with this topic too.

You need to change your sharepoint site address from http://xyz to https://xyz By default, a sharepoint site is prefixed with http. You can manually override the http by just typing in the https. Its works. SOLVED.

While the HTTPS may very well be needed many internal sharepoint servers are setup without SSL; thus, the default HTTP.

Without knowing which version of Office/Access is installed it is impossible to recommend a clear course of action.

              :)
