Access is not working after Java upgrade on pc.

I have a split database used by up to 8 users with no problems. Front end Access 2007 backend Access 2003. Some of the users have had Java on their pcs upgraded to work with another aplication and now they are unable to use the Access DB. There is no Java connection involved.Versio n 1.6.0_18
Would bringing backend up to 2007 help or is it more complicated.
Any ideas appreciated.

I'm not aware of any reason at all why a Java upgrade would, could or should affect a FE/BE relationship between Access DBs. I wonder if something else has changed, such as an accidental modification to access rights for the BE folder concerned?

You don't say what problems you are experiencing. If you can open the FE DB but it cannot access the back-end one I suggest that you check whether or not the front-end database on each affected machine still has its table links set to the correct back-end, and whether or not you can open these tables manually from within the front end. If you can, the front-end is correctly linked to the back-end tables. If you can't open them, you need to investigate further what has happened to the links.

Upgrading the BE to A2007 is not a solution to this problem. In my opinion all that would happen is that you'd have a problem connecting to the A2007 BE instead of the A2003 one - you'd be no better off.

You need to supply alot more detailed information on the issue. Simply stating that "its not working" is not enough information to on.

Would you ever take your car to the mechanic and tell him "Something in my car is not working, please fix it?"

You need to define the "not working" part in greater detail

Do you get an error message? Post Error number and description.

Can the users open the front-end client?
Can they perform some operations or none at all?

You need to isolate the part of the application that is working differently then expected and describe to us, how it SHOULD behave, and how it IS behaving.

Picked up a backup FE, rolled back Java and all is well.
