I've seen a completed switchboard in Access and it was a small area, with about two or three fields and it looked like a pop up window instead of a full page. How can I customize my switchboard page to look like that?

The Switchboard is a form. It is customisable just like any form. Open it for design. Show the properties. There is so much there you can do it would be senseless for me to try to explain it all. It's very basic though. I suggest you play around with that before asking questions at such a basic level.
