How can I change 'Data entry' property and 'Allow additions' without using VBA

I have an access database with a main form and four sub forms. I can enter data through the forms, and this is fed through to the underlying tables. However, when i close the form and re-open it, I cannot scroll through the form and look at previous records. From some preliminary research I can see that setting the 'data entry' to yes and the 'allow additions' to yes that this should resolve the problem. However, I can't find a way of doing this that doesn't use VBA - is this possible?

Yes, you should be able to to go to the form properties page and under the Data tab they are available. Change data entry to no and allow additions to yes.

In response to the information provided by linq you should probably have everything set to yes apart from DataEntry which should be set to no .

So on your data tab have:

Allow edits = yes
Allow deletions = yes
Allow additions = yes
Data entry = no

Setting data entry = yes will only load a new record each time the page is opened. This is often useful when you do not want users to be able to edit/change records but just to supply fresh data.

Your interpretation of what you've read is incorrect!

Setting Data Entry to Yes is causing the problem. Forms set like this only allow the entry of new records! They do not allow for the viewing/editing/deleting of existing records!

The Data Entry Property name was a poor choice by Microsoft, as it would seem to indicate that it is necessary in order to enter records, which is incorrect.

Hi - thanks for the quick responses!

Unfortunately, when I look at the properties for the form or sub-forms in design, the data tab is blank - is there something I have to do to allow me to view the Data properties?

Are you sure you are in the form properties page? You may be selectiong a section instead such as the header / detail / footer.

Click on the square section on the top left of the form in design view where the rulers/guides intersect each other so that a black square appears within it. Then right click this and select properties. They should be available from there. This ensures the focus is on the correct form.

I set the Data Entry to yes as you suggested missingling but it hasn't made any difference! Every time I close the form and open it again I can't view the other records that have been entered. Can you suggest any other alternatives?

To be fair to Linq, he said the exact opposite. Essentially the same as what Munkee said that seems to have helped you resolve the issue eventually.
