How to import large dbf files

When I am trying to import my dbf files, I am getting an error message saying the files are too large.

What is the maximum dbf file size that Access can handle? Is there another way to import my dbf files without compressing them? How would I compress my dbf files if that is the solution?

How big a dbf file are you talking about? I assume you're trying to import it into a table. Theoretically the maximum table size in Access (all post-97 versions, I think) is 2 gigabyte minus the space needed for the system objects, but that would be assuming you only had one table and not much else.

Don't really see how compressing it then importing it is going to help. Access can't work with the data unless it was unzipped, and then you would be back to it being too big again.

I suppose you could import it into a separate backend or multiple backend files and then link various forms to them.

Maybe someone here has actual experience with this kind of thing.

Thanks for welcoming me and for responding!

My table size is 1,272 KB so I am not sure what is going wrong.
Have you ever worked with spatial software ie. ESRI?

I am going to check their forum to see if I can figure out my problem. Though I was under the impression that it shouldn't matter how the dbf was created.

      Any further information?
