How to add a field to a linked table

I need to add a Yes/No field to the end of an existing table in my database. After I add the field and click save I get a message that says it cant save property changes for linked tables.

You need to add the field in the backend of the database.

Do you know what type of backend is being used?

Yes, thats when i get the error message "cannot save property changes for linked tables" after trying to add a new field to a table on the back end.

The backend is just microsoft access, jet engine or something like that.

You need to make the change in the table in the database that your linked table is linked to.

In 2003 that message only comes up when you try to modify the table from the front end! You need to open the back end file independently, then make your changes.

When the Database Splitter is used, Access names the back end file

          OriginalFileNam e_be.mdb

              Not at all!

You provided extra info anyway, but even without that we must allow for delayed posts. I do them all the time where I load a page and find myself unable to give it my attention till later. Especially if I'm loading a number at one go to deal with as and when I get some free time.

Thanks missingling, I just had to update it from the backend but when no one else had it open.
