    Form not updating table

I have a problem with a long form. The form captures data correctly for fields which existed in the table when the form was created. I recently added two fields and have just added input boxes for these on the form. The form captures data for all fields except the two fields I just added. This is driving me nuts! Can anyone help? I checked the form several times but cant see what the problem is.
    Many thanks in advance.

Have you added the two new fields to the record source of your form?

In Design View, if you select to data tab in the form properties window, you can modify the record source from there to include the two new fields.

EDIT: Also, have you added two new fields in the relevant tables for the two new fields (text/combo boxes/whatever they are) on your form

Hi, everything appears fine. The two new fields have always shown in the dropdown lists and in the field list.

I'm confused by what you mean when you say "The two new fields have always shown in the dropdown lists"? What dropdown lists do you mean?

If you have added the two new fields to the appropriate tables and updated the record source of the form, it should work. No idea why it wouldn't!

I think you'll need to zip your file up and post it here for us to be able to do anything more in trying to sort this out. Also, what version of Access are you running?

Sorry for being vague. If you open form/ design view/ properties /data tab, and click on Record Source, a drop downlist appears. THe fields have always shown here.
I just created a new form and cut and pasted all the fields from the old form and now it works.. The wonder of access 2003. Many thanks anyway.

Doesn't the Record Source dropdown list display all queries and tables you can choose as the record source?

Just for future reference - If you click the '...' button next to it, you can specify what fields you want specifically as fields in your form.

Yes, I tried the full path too but no change.

The new form works fine, will use this and move on and come back to this later to see if I can understand what is happening.

                Thanks again.

No-one mentioned ensuring the two new controls were bound. Did you set the Control Source property of each?

Hi, yes the control properties were set correctly. I even changed them to other objects and add new fields ones with the same control.. I lost a few hrs on this then copied the format to a new form and deleted the old one. Now everything works fine.

I never like it when problem explanations elude you. They always have the threat of turning up again and you're in no better position to deal with tham than the last time :(

That said, you have a working solution so that's good.
