    Data Entry Locked when Subform

I have a few forms which i have designed to be subforms to a mainform that has no fields or record source.

The forms have an unbound textbox and combo box, which i use to seach the data on these 'continuous' forms. Which works fine when i open them as main form. However, as soon as i use them as subforms i can't enter or select anything from the unbound textbox and combo box on the subform.

I have checked both the mainform, subform and subform unbound textbox and combo box settings and all allow edits.

What else is causing the subforms unbound textbox and combo box to be locked ?

I've tried to reproduce you problem, in Access 2003, and simply cannot do so. If the main form and the subform both have AllowEdits set to Yes, there should be no problem with this arrangement. I'm assuming that the combobox won't let you actually make a selection, is that correct? Have you tried editing a textbox on the offending subform?

Is this behavior on one subform or all of the subforms?

      Thanks for your reply.

It's on all the sub forms i use all forms are set to allow edits and the combo box and text box are enabled and not locked.

I can't select anything from combo box or edit the text box when using the form as a subform, but i can select list values on the combo box and edit the text box when form is being used as a main form.

I tired seaching every forum and search engine i could, the only threads i found talked about links with the main form, but i don't have a recordsouce on the main form.

      I'm at a loss.

I just thought it might be worth adding that i also can't edit the fields on the sub form either not just the unbound text box and combobox

          FIXED.

Although both the subform and the mainform where set to allow edits the actual subform holder on the mainform had it's property set to locked. Another 3hrs wasted over a simple setting, oh well live and learn.

This helped me figure a similar problem saved me 3 hours. Thanks!
