Database size doesn't decrease when Objects are deleted

    Hi,
I have an access mdb file where I have deleted all the queries and forms, but the size of the database is still the same it was 50Mb before and it is still 50Mb now, even after doing a compact and repair. The tables are all linked so I wouldn't think they should affect the size of the database. How do I make it so if I delete an object the size of the database decreases accordingly?

    Thanks

    Compact & Repair.

Where did you select for the resultant database?

I can only suggest maybe you took a wrong step somewhere and to try it again. Compact & Repair from A to B is the most reliable way I find. When you're happy with the results then delete A and rename B to A if you need to.

I have found that compact & repair does not actually do anything when the database resides on a network drive. It does work if I copy it to the local drive, compact & repair, then copy back to the network drive.

I regularly use it on my network and have never noticed a time when it has failed to work as expected.

It looks (two of you with similar symptoms) that there is an issue here somewhere, but although it is not as simple as accessing over a network, it may be connected somehow.

It would certainly be interesting to find the connecting link.
