Does anyone know if I can "package" a backend, along with the runtime, to install a backend on a client's server? I've tested creating and installing a front end, and I can do that. But I didn't know if Access had actually to be installed on a machine in order for a backend to run. If possible, do I lose something (e.g., ability to edit, see tables, etc.)? Thanks in advance!

Hi. Short answer to your question is that Access does not have to be 'installed' on the back-end machine - the back-end DB is being accessed by whatever front-end Access DB you are running, which manages the connection to the back-end tables across the network. Of course, MS Office or whatever run-time components are needed must be available to the person running the Access DB on their local PC for the application to run.
Access is not a client-server database; true back-end databases such as SQL-Server have to have the database server installed on the server itself and running that instance of the database before you can connect a front end client to them, but Access does not work that way.
