And I think the answer to that, for probably 99.9% of the regulars here, is that we adjust the width of the combobox when we set it up so that it accommodates the longest item we expect to be displayed, rather than spending days trying to figure out some clever hack to dynamically size it. Occasionally we make adjustments, if need be. But basically, it's called planning ahead!

From the school of "Keep It Simple, Stupid!" (or KISS).

There is definitely worth bearing in mind in pretty well everything you do (not even just programming). You can save yourself a deal of time in many situations.

Having said all that - I can see that there is scope sometimes for doing something a little more complicated and dynamic when it gives you the results you need. This situation seems to be one where that could very possibly be the case.

My real name is ** Removed **. Yeah and give a plug to Bytes. After you make the modification please upload again. Check my previous post about the mousedown event.

      cheers,

Thanks mshmyob, I'm on vacation right now but I will get things rolling when I return and definitely keep you informed. I must apologize to you for requesting your real name within the Form. I failed to complete the rest of the sentence which was to send it to me, if of course you approved, in a Private Message.

          Not even that Rob.

Some gentle guidance for ADezii, but you have every right to put your name in here publicly if you choose.

I simply considered that you may not have chosen to, had the request been phrased differently. You were not even theoretically out of line :)

I suspect ADezii (knowing him as I do) is far more worried about putting you in a position, than he is about any perceived slap on the wrist (Not that it was even that of course).

No harm no foul. I just didn't want to PM Adezii without his permission.

Now I just have to sit back and wait for all those royalty cheques to role in :) I will now be able to retire 30 years erlier than expected.

            cheers,

Here is what effectively is the final version, unless you see something that you want a change. Please let me know either way.

mshmyob provided the logic and base code, it is he who deserves most of the credit. I simply modified some of the code and GUI. BTW, the subject of this Thread will be an upcoming Tip of the Week, but that is a Top Secret, so don't tell anyone!
