    Access 2007 : Data Stability on Network

    I am new to Access. I have developed an application in Access 2007. I have kept all the tables in a MDB file and all the forms in a seperate accdb file. All the tables of MDF file is link in the accdb file.

    As long as I was working in the local computer, everything worked fine. But when I put the backend MDB file in the server, and front end ACCDB file in the client computer, quite frequently the database (MDB) file is getting corrupt.

    Has anybody faced such problem of database instability in Access 2007 ? If that is so, what is the way out ?

      Just curious, why are you working across formats? Why not keep both the front and back end to ACCDB, or MDB only? As long as you dont have other different front-ends using the same MDB back-end file, upgrade it to an ACCDB and see if that fixes your problem. Keep a good back-up the old MDB until you iron out any bugs.

          I am new to Access. I have one question to ask to this community of Access 2007 users.

          I tried to put my Access 2007 (front-end) and Access 2003 (back end) application on the server. I keep back-end on Server and front end on all client computer.I am quite frequently facing database corruption problem. Is that Access 2007 issue or it is something wrong with my setup ? My server uses Windows 2003 Server.

          Secondly there has been tremendous downfall in speed of the data. Is that also something to expect from Access 2007 ?

          Your input will go a long way in help me take the decision.

                  It sounds like you have two separate issues: Corruption of the backend, and Loss of Speed.

                  Corruption: please have a look through Preventing Corruption, Recovering from Corruption, Converting to Access 2007 all by Allen Browne.

                  As for the speed issue, how are you linking the two parts of your database? Speed can be affected by a great many things, but usually is a problem with running un-optimized queries/code.
