    Design View Form Position

I have several PopUp forms in my database. Before today, if I switched to Design View, the form was in the same position as in Form View.

Currently if I switch to Design View, the form is positioned below any open forms, sometimes as many as 5 screens below the active forms (lots of blank space here). Access adds a vertical scroll bar to accomodate this. No added software for at least a week (Microsoft Updates & Virus AutoUpdates only for over a month). Rebooting and/or restarting Access does not clear the problem.

If I close, save, or change back to form view without first dragging the form back to where it belongs, it will open in this incorrect location. Dragging it back is time consuming, as it has to be dragged to the top of the window, the scroll bar has to be clicked, the form has to be dragged to the top . . . for as many (so far) as five iterations. Debugging PopUp forms is time-consuming enough without this new annoyance.

I'd like to say I didn't do anything to cause this, but I must have!

What's going on, and how do I fix it?

Hmm, Access will "remember" the last position a form in designview has been positioned. To re-ajust a form "at the bottom", make sure you change something (even delete of object and Undo will work). Then save the form in the new position (on top) and after this faked update the new position is "permanent" .

Personally I just use the Maximized update view only and that's not disturbed by this mechanism.

Thanks for the timely response, and I apologize for my late acknowledgement . I got involved in another problem, and this became less important.

I'm not exactly sure what "Maximized Update view" is, but Maximizing a window can cause popup / modal windows to also be maximized, or else return from a non-maximized window in a maximized environment can cause the maximized calling form/window to become the same size as the popup.

I don't understand exactly what goes on with form size. I created an .exe file once, with a small window main form, and this is now my computer's default window size for any/all Access programs. I don't use this program any more, as it causes too many problems.

To get back to the original question asked, I tried correcting and saving the form again. Didn't work. I moved the program to another computer, and the problem went away. I did the change again, and then moved it back to the original computer. Problem fixed . . . . for now.

Glad it's working again. Just leaves an odd feeling something with Access isn't working as it should...

        Success with your application!
