Extract data from Crystal Report 7 to Access 2003 Secure

Hello People,

I made a data base with secure wizard to provide to users a PID and Passwords. I need to extract data from Crystal Reports 7 in this data base but Crystal Reports send me a message like I cant extract data because I don't have rights to this data base. I am the "Admin" I don't Know what happens in this case.

I try to change the "Set Location" in Crystal Rpts but no results.

Crystal don't show me any window to put the "Password" to admin in the data base.

Tengo una base de datos en Access 2003. Cree una sección de "Passwords" para los usuarios a través del "Security Wizard". Cuando trato de conectar "Crystal Reports" a la base de datos me dice que no tengo los derechos de extraer datos. Yo soy el administrador de la base de datos.

Trate de cambiar en la opción "Set Location" en Crystal Reports pero no da resultados.

Crystal tampoco muestra alguna ventana donde pueda entrar algún "Password" para poder entrar a la base de datos.

Sorry for my late..

Ok, I use the Crystal Rpt tool by running one file Sysdb32.exe and selecting the access Systm.mdw file. In this way the program will look to Systm.mdw when opening data base and the user will be prompted for access password. This version is old 7 Seagate.

What is the import function? this is other form to connect?

My thought was to open Access, go to the File Menu > Get External Data > Import.

This brings up a file dialog box where you can navigate to the Crystal Report in question and import into Access.

Are you trying to set up a dynamic linking situation where users can do this repeatedly, or are you doing this one time only to get data from an old Crystal Report into Access to be used from now on in Access?

Symptom

In the version 8 Crystal Reports Designer, how do you establish an OLE DB connection to a Microsoft Access database that contains database level security?
Resolution

To establish an OLE DB connection to an Access database containing database level security:

1. In the Crystal Reports Designer, click 'File' then 'New'. Click 'As a Blank Report' from the 'Crystal Report Gallery' then click 'OK'.

2. The 'Data Explorer' appears. Click on 'More Data Sources' and then 'OLE DB'. Double click on 'Make New Connection'.

3. The 'Data Link Properties' dialog box appears. Under the 'Provider' tab, highlight 'Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider'.

4. Click on the 'Connection' tab and browse to your Access database.

5. Click on the 'All' tab. Highlight 'Jet OLEDB: Database Password' and double click it. In the property value, enter the database level password. Click 'OK'.

6. Go back to the 'Connection' tab and click 'Test Connection'. You should see a 'Test connection succeeded' message box.

You can now successfully connect through OLE DB to your Access database (containing database level security).
