Link_Tables_Over_The_Internet_?

Hello I'm trying to link a table to an access database from another access DB that I have stored on my website. What i would like is to be able to have this table linked so that all of th applications that my company has out there in the world are looking at this same table, basicly I'm trying to set up a product key for each Copy Sold and varify that it is regitered useing this linked table before the end user can use the application, and check to see if the Key has been used already, has anyone ever linked a table over the web like this before?

I just read an article from MS stating that this is highly not recommended the internet or any wan is very unstable for that sort of thing I would, since it is on the internet create a web page that would handle this. MS Access has enough troubles I don't think you want to add to them.
