library for string functions

I am getting error on all string Functions i.e

Left, Mid, etc

Error is that i haven't set the library...

I am getting this error when i downloaded a Access file from internet and compiled it - probabaly it was written in old version?

does any one know whats the library called for string functions?

I believe the library is "Visual Basic for Applications"
