    Bizarre Access behavior

I have a sudden, bizarre set of behaviors that make me suspect Microsoft has stepped on something bad. I see unusual and very bad behavior in MS Access and Chrome.
When I open an Access database on my programming machine, an Access Help window opens on the right side of the window. That does not normally happen. But it happens now and it resists all efforts to close it.

When I try to get into Options the browser opens "by itself" and many tabs open at once to the address
    https://support.microso ft.com/en-us/office/set-general-user-options-in-access-2c498459-100a-4e7f-9e77-657a9423af74
The page shown in the browser says "The request is blocked." and then in much smaller letters "20250919T1 2524 2Z-186c95cd76dssgf 6hC1ATLs1tc0000 0009rg00000000e dhm"

The browser window, like the Help window, cannot be closed.
I can move the browser window out of the way and then see that the Access options window did open before the browser opened.
I can kill the browswer with Task Manager. But as soon as the Access Options window comes into focus, the browser opens up again with all those tabs, but the page now appears to have actual Microsoft content about the Access options.

Logging on as a different user results in a normal experience with Access.

We have good malware protection on the domain, but it sure looks like malware. But because it merely opens a bunch of Microsoft urls I'm inclined to think it is a blunder by somebody at Microsoft.

    Anybody seen anything like this?

I am working remotely. A tech onsite pulled the machine out of the rack and booted up at his desk. Everything worked fine, perfect, logged in as me. So he put the workstation back in the rack, and this time he did not connect a keyboard or mouse. It works fine for me now.

So, our theory is that there is a short in the keyboard that was plugged into that machine, causing some key or keys to be pressed at all times. Or, an actual mouse was on the keyboard.

I just duplicated the problem by holding the F1 key down and opening the Access/Options window. Bingo, browswer opened a bunch of tabs.

Thanks for listening. My therapy session is over.

      Hi Jim.

When I read through your OP I was at a bit of a loss as to how I might be able to help :-(

Imagine my relief when you managed to deduce the situation as illustrated in your second post then :-)

I'm just happy all seems clear now.
