How Do You Automate Your Programs?

I have a program that I run on a scheduled job. It requires that somebody is logged in (Access requires an interactive desktop session). That's kind of a hassle, but I'm dealing with it.

Anyway, that got me to thinking how do others automate their programs? Does anybody do that, or is it just me? I know about the registry hack to automatically log in, but my company has a policy against that. I don't think I can convert my program so that it runs as a service. Any tips or tricks are welcome.

I've run into the same problem with programs that require an interactive session. One approach I've tried is using automation frameworks like Playwright or PyautoGUI to simulate user interactions when the program starts.

Another option could be containerizing or virtualizing the environment so the app thinks it's running in a desktop session, even if no one is actively logged in.

[INDENT]Usually, I rely on Task Scheduler with a user account that stays logged in, or I use a remote desktop session and just lock the screen instead of logging out. Not ideal, but it works when turning it into a service isn’t an option.
