Stock level Query

Hello I am desining a stock control database using Access 2000 and I would like some guidance from you. I have set up a query to deduct the stock levels from a customer purchase but when i try to use this query on a form i cannot access the values through another form. I am trying to stop customers from buying out of stock items and i cannot access the new stock levels stored within the query.
