OLE server problems

Unlike someone else who wrote about this i do not have Norton.

When I start using Access I get a message saying "A problem occured
while Microsoft Access was communicating wlth the OLE Server. Close
the OLE server and restart it outside of Microsoft Access. Then try
the original operation again in Microsoft Access"

this is a new problem that began just after a friend "cleaned up" some useless junk on my computer.

1 What is this OLE server?
2 Where is it?
3 How can i get it back?

I will leave this here as it may possibly garner a positive response here. It is after all, connected with running Access.
However, I think you may benefit from asking this question again in the Windows forum. They may have experts there who know more about the OLE server per se. Installation / configuration / removal etc.

A simple response would be an OLE Server is the application that is called upon to display and process a linked or embedded object. Access is only an OLE Client in that it can 'host' Objects developed from other Applications such as an Excel Spreadsheet, Word Document, Video Clip, etc. Access Objects cannot be Linked or Embedded in other Applications, meaning it is not capable of being an OLE Server. This error may be occurring because a Linked or Embedded Object in your Access Database cannot communicate with the Host Application that created it. This communication is essential in that data transfer must exist between the 2 entities. Hope this helps.
