Good morning, i am new to the forums, and have a question.
I inherited a database (housed in Excel) containing over 8,000 records [yikes!] which i am trying to import into a database, this will be a flat file for now; Access is the only option i currently have.
Our unique ID is year (last 2 digits) then starts at 001 on January 1st, etc, this is a breeze in Excel.
Is it possible to have a field (or 2) make up a uniqueID that changes the year, and resets to 001 at the beginning of a new year?
Hope you can help,
Cynthia
I have used databases for years, but have never designed one.
