    Linked Table Manager

Can anyone guide me through changing the location of my linked tables
through the Linked Table Manager? (MS-Access 2000)

    Here's what I've done:

I'm in the front-end application on a split database of course.
I open the Linked Table Manager, Select all Tables, and check "Always
Prompt for new location. This brings up a window which displayed the
possible sources which starts out as My Documents. I chose Network
Places and that brought up a list of servers from which I find the
folder holding the new Back-end .mdb. I click on the folder and locate
my backend and click open. This just takes me back to the original My
Documents in the dialog window. I can't seem to get this to update my
    links.

thanks in advance for any help!

    Try this:

Sometimes, especially when you link to several different mdbs, access asks for the location of each table. Sometimes it does it when an error occurred previously, and the links are different for each table. Look close when you try again. Is the table name the next in the list? If so, there's not much that you can do.

What I do, when linking many different tables to an mdb is to type in the location of the table. Often, access will help finish typing the folder name and allow you to continue typing. Once I get the fully qualified location, including the mdb name, I highlight the entire name, cntl C to copy it then click open. Access will then ask me for the next table's location. I just cntl V and copy it into the space provided and click open. I do this for all tables to link. It's a pain, but its better than clicking thru each drive, folder, subfolde r until I find the table, and doing this for each table.

    Hope this helps

      Re: Linked Table Manager

Is it possible that there are tables that are linked to other data
files or are bad links. I have noticed that if I have a front end with
links to more than one database or when a link is invalid it will
prompt for the location of every table, rather than selecting and just
refreshing all links, so I woudl verify that all tables do in fact
      exist in the backend.'
