    network diagram

    all..

this group is amazing.. have been getting lot of answers without asking
from this forum.. got a couple of questions..

    first the background

i am working on a database that has the network information and all the
data that goes on it with the switches, the hardware, the software
messages that go on it.. the links between networks.. i have all that
in the tables and i have queries set up to get the information out.. i
have been thinking now i would like to build a network diagram for it
... so that they can get the complete top level picture, and then by
clicking each picutre or box they could get more details.. and then for
each line they could click on it and get speed/bandwidth etc
    information..

    questions:
    1) Can this be done in Ms access?
    2) i have the csv files that i import into database to get all this
informationm. should i consider another interface tool to ms access
that i can get the information from, bt doing all these network diagram
and on demand information on some other tool..

What are the thoughts of the readers out here?

    Very interested to know!

I went to Tucows, http://www.tucows.com, and entered "network diagram"
in the search box. The following is the link to the page...if it
doesn't word wrap. Maybe there's something there you can utilize.

I was thinking that one of the Visio products would be a good starting
point. One of the links from tucows is this one.
http://web.rackwise.com/. Since Visio is a MS product, you might be
able to share data between the two; Access and Visio and build it
yourself. Then again, if it does what you want, it might be cheaper to
purchase it than roll your own.
