    database server interfaces examples

    Hello,

In my previous post, I wanted to ask if someone knows some examples of
the most current database server interfaces. I am getting confused if
ODBC, OLE, JDBC are considered as interfaces to the database servers. I

just wanted to have an idea on this topic. Thank you in advance for the

    replies I will receive.

    Re: database server interfaces examples

ODBC (Open Database Connection) is a standard initiated quite a number of
years ago by Microsoft. Almost all Server DBs are ODBC-compliant, most of
them provide ODBC drivers, and there are many third-party providers, also.

OLEdb (Object Linking and Embedding) is another Microsoft standard. I don't
believe it was accepted as whole-heartedly as ODBC. It is used to link
Access Projects (.ADP) with Microsoft SQL Server, and has capabilities to
treat other things (like operating system tables) as though they were
    databases/tables.

I suggest, for the others, that "Google is your friend."
