Hi Bradley

At different times over the years, there have been people who have posted an
FAQ for cmda, but the group is unmoderated, and so there is not a consistent
monitoring or FAQ posting. I don't know how long cmda has existed; I
personally became aware of it 11 or 12 years ago (1993/4.)

Based on your posts, you seem to have an interest in the technical side of
Access, so your posts would be very welcome, but your questions and
responses to others.

I was actually asking after trying to respond to a few posts today that
didn't seem to provide enough information :) I've been around here for
quite some time myself and hadn't seen a reference to the FAQ for some
time (long enough to not fully remeber if it actually had one:)

How'd you become an MSVP?

Too bad my boss won't spring for certification :) I've been developing
for 10+ years in Access.

MVP is an award from Microsoft, recognising technical skill and the
willingness to share that knowledge with others.

In essence, I think they want to recognise and encourage the kind of
community-minded peer-support that is common in open source, and the fact
that this benefits the users of Micorost's products as well as MS itself.

That may not be true anymore, David. Recently, we've had MVPs awarded who
don't post in the newsgroups at all. Rather, the award can be for any
significant involvement with Access, such as user groups or other forums.

I don't know if you got the one I got from BillGates@chair man.microsoft.c om
titled "Security in a Connected World" that had me sure I was about to
infect my machine.

It was just the first in a series of executive level emails. BTW The email
address is not Bill's personal email but the office of the chairman.

Until recently, one of our participants here posted a copy of that
netiquette section daily. I believe he had an automated system set up -- but
I haven't seen this lately.
