store locator database

I'm in the process of designing a store locator database that i
searchable for the retail stores in a city and state. Which would b
better to impliment the city/state query or is it zipcode based
Another question is what elements come first, second, third and wha
user information is needed in order to obtain results? I have an ide
but would like more input. I'm looking for someone that has mayb
designed one so maybe I can get an idea or see a sample of wha
tables are used to make this fully functional

"Better" would depend on what you are trying to accomplish. It would be easy
in Access to match city and state, provided they are stored in the table of
stores whose location you want to return to the user. You'd need to write
some non-trivial code to try to do "closest zipcode matching", or use some
third party software.

And, perhaps you might clarify what you mean by "Another question is what
elements come first, second, third and what user information is needed in
order to obtain results?"

It is not clear that this is a question about Microsoft Access database
software -- that is the subject of this newsgroup.

Thank you for responding, I could of worded it better, with the stor
locator database I'm looking for input about design and the best wa
to analyze the data. Three things that are important are 1. Locato
Functionality 2.Search Capability 3.Location Dat
I'm trying to make the best decision about what type of locator.
know looking with a search radius for the purpose of store mappin
there are third party programs to find the points of interest purel
based on their distance from a specific latitude and longitude. Whe
the user enters a 5 digit zip code, and a radius in miles to defin
the search radius returns all the stores located in that radius
