Date() function problem

Dear Access expert

I am trying to use an mde application developed in Access2k with Access
2002. I get an Access error box: Function is not available.. Date() etc.
Is Access 2002 back compatible if so how do I work around this date function
problem?

look up "Missing References" Any time simple stuff like Date() Left()
Right(), or other simple functions quit working, Tools References, then
you'll see "MISSING REFERENCE: blah blah" You can click on it, find out what
file it is, and determine if you can get the file and put it where it wants
it (the library) or, you could try unchecking that library and see if that
doesn't fix your problem.

By the way

Are these missing refs specific to the database or Access as a whole. Can
the missing refs be resolved from any Database or only from an mdb of the
one with the problem.
The reason I ask is that I only want the user to have the mde not the mdb or
an I going to have to take a trip and visit the users pc?

I'm afraid it'd be a trip to each PC with an mdb copy and then create an
mde for that computer.

I'm not a 2002 user (I play with 97 and 2003) but it may be that the
refs in 2000 are different from 2002? If I'm wrong here, someone needs
to club me fast so I don't give Ian the wrong info.

If this is the case, what I would do is check the refs on a new mdb on
one of your 2000 machines and then change, if necessary, the refs on the
2002 machine before making it into an mde - that might do the trick.

Well, what I did was made a batch file that copied ALL the libraries to each
of the machines. I did it with a batch script in their startup so they
never knew. But, it was basically:

copy Z:\accessxp\lib s\*.* %windir%

Contents of libs:

That took care of it on all my OS's.. I have a mix of 98, 2000, and XP.
Isn't that special? I guess it's overkill to have multiple versions of
libraries, but it doesn't matter realty isn't an issue. The MDB just knows
which library it needs, and because it finds it in the sys path, then it's
happy with it's references. Missing references really tick me off in
particular because it's like "WHY DIDN'T THEY GET LOADED ON INSTALL?" Why
ask anything about Microsoft, or how, or why they do what they do. All I
know is I get to keep juggling to accomodate their changes - in everything.
