MDW corruption

    MDW corruption

    Over past 18 months, at one site only, the custom security file has
    corrupted 3 times. Its an easy fix, just replace with backup but why does it
    happen?
    10 users logging in each day onto a local server where the mdw and data is
    stored. Anyone know what might cause this.

      We have seen MDW corruption quite a bit and it is usually the result of
      one of two circumstances:

      1. Users thinking long processes in the application are a "hang" and
      using task manager to "End Task" on the applicaiton.

      2. Network issues. Bad network connectivity can often result in dropped
      packets that can easily corrupt Access databases. This can be the
      result of a PC with a bad NIC, wiring issues, bad network hardware or
      poor network design.

      I suggest that you have a look at
      http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;285822 and
      check the MDW when it gets corrupted to see who's in it. If you can
      narrow it down to one user, it's likely that 1 or 2 is true for this
      person. If it seems to occur for any number of them, it may be a bigger
      network issue.
