What is best way to get access to Access?

I recently became registrar for a girls' softball league and will be
inheriting the previous registrar's Access database of team and player
information. I have Office XP for Students and Teachers, which does not
    include Access.
    What is my best option?
    Buy Office XP Professional?
    Buy Access alone?
Do I have any other alternatives?

Visit microsoft.com/office to find out which versions of Office
include Access. Buy/Upgrade one of those.

There are other alternatives. If you were so inclined, you could build an
funky interface using nothing but Notepad. However, unless you were an
experienced programmer with an excessive amount of free time on your hands
this would probably not be sensible.

Really you would need to see how complex the application was. If the
application was little more than a list of players, and you had little
interest in getting to know Access, then you may be able to simply get them
to convert it to Excel format.

If the application was extremely complicated and finely-honed and cash was
extremely tight, then you might be able to get an Access developer to
package the application to provide you with a runtime version (gives you a
licence to run this product without buying Access).

These suggestions are just to show that there are alternatives. But I would
take Tom's advice, and investigate the cheapest way to upgrade.
