    Replication with Split database

    Hi
I have to replicate and split a database..
Can someone give me the sequence in which to do first and advise on
any problems and solutions that i need to be aware of

    Split first.
Replicate only the back end -
there should be no need to synchronize the front end.

Let's rephrase that. Michael Kaplan has emphatically stated that you should never
      replicate the FE.

But in terms of split architecture, there shouldn't ever be any need
to synchronize the front end, either.

However some folks could, understandably, think that this is a viable solution to
pushing updates to the FE MDB/MDE out to their users.

And some folks could, understandably, think that using Windex is a viable
solution to cleaning their contacts without removing them, but that would be
            just as wrong. :-)

"The Gods Must be Crazy" is just out on DVD. IMNSHO one of the funniest movies ever
                made.

One hilarious scene, among many, is where the pump jockey squirts windex on the
windshield. However he didn't realize there was no glass so he squirted the new
school teacher right in the face.

Note to lurkers: 1 is the very funny one. 2 is just regular funny. Also 1 starts
off like a National Geographic documentary for the first half hour.

Ayup. There are so many. Up and down the hill.
