    Outlook attachment

    Hi all.

I need to create program that will extract attachments from Outlook 2000
inbox and save it on disk.
Detailed how-to & sample code would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    DeeJay.

Check the Outlook group. Otherwise, open your wallet.

Ok, I found useful code sample at www.slovaktech.com
Also, there is sweet little program called EZDetach (www.techhit.com) that
integrates into Outlook and can do some cute things with attacments.

          Dear DeeJay:

It is possible to write code within Access that will open and read
your emails (and thus generate email in response to what is gleaned
from the incoming email). I have even written code that will save an
attachment to a folder of my specification.

I tend to have a field, in a table used to store information about my
application, which holds the path of the datafile.mdb for each
application. I then save the attachments into that folder and save the
name of the attached file in a table that acts as a source object for
a form in which I can view all of the downloaded attachements.

I learned how to do this by exploring and examing the Object Browser
for the Outlook commands and options.

Once you figure out how to use the Object Browser and learn from it,
you can then create applications that can read just your unread (or
any) emails in your inbox, copy the sender's information as well - as
the body of the text into your database, and even save the attachment
into a pre-determined folder and list it's path in your database so
that you can view the attachment from within your database if it is an
image file, or open the attachment with the appropriate associated
application. Have your database application scan the body of the text
for specific key words that will then instruct your database to
generate reports or export information and email same back to the
requesting email address (for security purposes, perhaps limit the
allowed email addresses to those listed in a table...and if a
non-listed requestor asks for information, perhaps send them a
registration packet instead? Just a thought for you.

          Questions?

          Ted
