Ok never mind, I just realised I was a nub and didnt LONG the actual incoming figures LOL.

I've tried to sort out this issue that when VB tries to do the following equation (even with the variable dimmed as LONG) it continues to overflow...

ie: mm surface = ((width x width) + (height x height))
anything where the width / height are above 130 each, causes the equation to overflow.. now my understanding of variables says to me long should be safe to a little over 3million in 4 byte figure....
