      q1)could you pojnt me to an example of how i make a template field in the codebehind area rather than the form area?

      q2)What if i have 2 link buttons? when the Rowcommand is raised how do i know which linkbutton raised it?

      q3)many examples i see database fields written in the form page or html area. Why do this when you dont need to if you connect and bind to a DB in the...

        1)ok i have got this far with some basic questions i need to ask.
        when i code in the aspx.vb area (whatever you call the coding area in aspx using vb), can i create template field there instead of what i have below?

            create hyperlink field from DB

            I have a column on a grid view I read in froma DB. The field has 2 values true or false. Now if i click on the field i want the gridview and the DB updated to the new value. I click on true on a row and it changes it to false after it has reloaded the page just on that row.

            In PHP you just make a field a hyperlink and send data to another page to update and automatically go back and refresh the page .

                    I have installed asp.net and apache and tested a sample program and it works.

                    I have vb.net2003 and tried to create a asp program with it and it has failed claiming i am using .net 1.0 (I am not) and an error which says i need to check the install of vs2003 (which is garbage).

                    i take it, it wont work under apache and the asp mod?

                      i have used a datatable which is more effective. the trick is to fill data from excel2d array and copy to datatable.

                        i have a range "A2:B5" but i can convert to array.

                        the problme is assigning to a datagrid

                        datagrid1.datas ource= myarray ' myarray is single array from 2D array

                        'the datagrid is just 1 col and i want rows and cols like the 2D array origanlly is.

                          i can assign a 1D array to a datagrid yes.
                          i cant assign a 2d array so i need to convert the 2d array to 1D array but i cant get rows and cols in a datagrid with rows and cols (just 1 col).

                          This is very complicated!

                              i can get a single value from a worksheet using vb.net and excel.

                              q)How do i get a range of values eg A2 to A5 and print them out eg with a msgbox. I know i can use the cells command but i want a range command where specify excel cell range.

                                    I cant find any basic tutorial with vb.net and excel where you can read data from a excel file and write values back eg just summing up a few columns and write back the total.

                                    Is this all possible because i have spent hours on seemingly just basici connection and basic tasks. Where is the help in vb.net for excel?
