    not without a code listing. what you have there is the XML prolog, that doesn’t count as tag

      Code:
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
      <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
         "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
      <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <head>

      Does that help?

          What are you using to process the page? IE?

            when you view source there is a space but in notepad ++ there is no space at the beggining.

              I tried WDG HTML Validator and it says no errors. I'm not sure why one page says different.

                My guess is there are extra bytes added by whatever application was originally used to edit it. Some apps can handle it, others can't. If you can delete this prolog using some other app, it will probably work.
