Why will Wi-Fi work on Ubuntu, but not on Win Vista?

    Hello,

I have just bought a Belkin N150 Wi-Fi router. After installation, on trying to connect to the Wi-Fi network, the connection goes into a "Limited or No Connectivity" state in Windows Vista. However, I am able to perfectly connect to the network using my Ubuntu boot and all the other Wi-Fi enabled phones.

My internet comes through a cable modem. The ISP binds the MAC to the IP address, so I have to manually request them to release the binding each time I connect the Ethernet modem to a different system. I don't quite know if that is the source of the problem as the Wi-Fi works fine on the other OS, i.e. Ubuntu.

    Help greatly appreciated!

It sounds like Vista's default security settings are getting in the way of the wifi, if the same box works with both Windows and Linux.

Have you compared the online setup documents?

It could also be a driver issue - have you updated the driver?

Click start button, right click my computer, and click manage. Click device manager and look for malfunctioning drivers
