If you're using vista see if you can restore the PC to a previous using System Restore.

System Restore uses a feature called System Protection to regularly create and save restore points on your computer. These restore points contain information about registry settings and other system information that Windows uses. You can also create restore points manually.
    Open System Restore:
    • Click the Start button
    • Click All Programs
    • Click Accessories
    • Click System Tools
    • Then click System Restore

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Choose a date where you were not having this problem.

Just in case you might want to start up the PC in safe mode

    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the screen goes blank for the first time, or after the BIOS post ends, start taping the F8 key repeatedly.
The Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
    Choose "Safe Mode"
    Hit Enter
