On your old monitor you probably had a standard lower resolution and now that you connected a new monitor (probably widescreen) that resolution will look terrible. You can fix it by doing the following
Right click on your desktop
Select properties.
In the Display Properties window (the one that just opened) select the Settings tab.
Find the group box that says Screen resolution and increase the slider to the right (towards the "More" side)
Click Apply.
You may need to play around with some of the different resolutions to find the one that you like. Let me know if you have any problems (or this doesn't fix it). -
Thanks, I did play with resolution, now it is better, this monitor had regular video card connection, also DVI connection, can I use this monitor to watch TV?. I have DVD player, but there is no DVI interface on DVD player?. to watch TV on this monitor, do I have to buy any extra box?. How can I take advantage of this new monitor?. please provide some tips, appreciated.Comment

There are several ways to watch TV on your monitor, but If its connected to your PC I would only recommend one way of doing this and that is having a TV tuner card into your PC. You can then from your computer watch TV and even record shows. Search google for articles regarding making your PC a DVR (digital video recorder). I have done this for one of my PC's and I love it, but you will probably need to buy computer card and you will need to install it. I would check to see if your monitor has any HDMI ports. If your monitor does have HDMI ports you can connect a DVD player that has an HDMI port directly to it. Another option for watching TV on your monitor is by getting a separate tv turner device. I have had one of these as well, but you would need to constantly switch your monitor connection each time you wanted to watch TV/DVD vs using your computer.Comment

I picked up a Hauppauge TV tuner card for ~50 USD. Ive seen TV tuner cards on sale in the price range of 25-35USD. The best advice is just start reading about converting your computer into a DVR and read a lot of reviews on different TV tuner cards. TV tuner cards are not created equal so read up! Also note that some TV tuner cards come with software that allows you to watch TV (like the Hauppauge card i got), but other cards do not. There is a free program online (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) that allows you to watch TV along with paid versions of different software. Again the best advice I can give is to read about the different programs as well as some provides features over others.Comment
