I have a computer on a network and around 10:00 the server (I believe) forces my computer to run the anti virus scan (scan32.exe). As soon as it starts it slows my computer way down. Everyday I goto the task manager and end the proceess and the scan stops and it doesn't run again till the next day. Is there a way to block that process from running. It is mcafee anti virus which gets its information from some central server. I can write a program to check the services for scan32.exe and kill it (at least I'm pretty sure i can), but I was wondering if there was a MS way of blocking such a service from running. Or, any other ideas?

also BECAUSE you are stopping the scan it may be causing it to run every day instead of just the once a week.
it is not really a good thing to be doing this in the way that you are and if I were the network admin I would not be happy with this especially you writing a program to stop the service so I would recommend as above just speaking to your Admin and explaining the issue you are having and ask him if the time can be ammended.Comment
