    Control Panel

Iv opened up start menu to find out I have no access into Control Panel, theres no icon for it. When i bring up the file itself through Command Prompt theres no files in it and I don't have much knowledge to use command prompt to go in further. How can I get into the files that are suppose to be in Control Panel with my problem?

I am on a school computer with Right Click Disabled (that is why i want Control Panel)

Sound like the school may have disable control panel, possibly with third party software. Microsoft puts out a shared computer tool that does this also. No way around it with admin password/username.

TRY THIS:I'm not sure whether this will work or not. Try and check out yourself
      _______________ _______________ _______________ _______________ _

Remember to enter text below WITHOUT QUOTES [i.e. " "]

Well open command prompt and type:

      1. Type "cd\" and press enter.
      2. Type "c:" and press enter.
[assuming c: is the drive with windows installed]
      3. Type "cd windows" and press enter.
      4. Type "cd system32" and press enter.
      5. Type "dir *.cpl" and press enter.

You will get a list of files [with .cpl extension, which are control panel files] which simply are different control panel applications or programs or ICONS [or whatever you call it] such as------------>

      intl.cpl
      irprops.cpl
      joy.cpl
      mmsys.cpl
      netsetup.cp
      nusrmgr.cpl
      odbccp32.cp
      powercfg.cp
      sysdm.cpl
      timedate.cp
      wscui.cpl
      wuaucpl.cpl
      igfxcpl.cpl
      access.cpl
The list may vary from computer to computer.

Now simply type the filename along with it's extension [.cpl] and press enter and you will see the control panel application running.

You might need to be a bit experimental to search for the required file as the filenames are abbreviated. So try on............. ......

Yea it was helpful up till "Dir*.cpl" which wouldn't work, but seeing how you gave us the root to the .CPL files we were able to go in make an admin account and get to it so thank you for your help ^.^

It will work only if you include one or many (as many you prefer) spaces between dir and *.cpl i.e.
          ___________
dir *.cpl--------------------------------------------->note the space between dir and *.cpl
          ___________
          Then only it will work
          _______________ _______________ _______________ _______________ _____
You can also do this by GUI i.e.-------->
Goto c:\windows\syst em32 and search for files with .cpl extension and double clicking them.

Is there another way to do this? I tried it and everything worked up to the part where i type what .CPL I want to access. After that "The operation was canceled do to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". ..Is there anyway around this?

This seems to be a retriction imposed by SYSadmin. I expect you to be using a limited account rather than one with admin privileges.
Tell me whether you are using a limited or administrator account.

Till then try the link below.......... ..

I'm doing a bit research in this matter. If I find something I will tell you.
