How to restrict the bandwidth of my application

    hi

I'm using a webservice to update some data to server.

my webservice is written in asp.net and vb.
i'm invoking it from a windows application(vb. net)

but when my webservice is running it uses the complete bandwidth of my internet connection.
is there any way to alllocate a particular bandwidth to this webservice sothat it wont affect other applications using internet

    thanks in advance
    please help me

As far as i don't think you can do this programmaticall y... you could psooible use some 3rd party software for this functionality.. . Also iis logs have bytes sent per second... or you can use performance counters within your program to calculate the bytes sent ....

As i said earlier i don't think you can restrict your application to consume 5 or 10 kbps per sec...You can however know how much actually its consuming.. Look into iis logs ... you can at least get the information about bytes sent

I am pretty sure there isn't a way to limit bandwidth used by your app from within your app unless you wrote your own tcp/ip protocol.
