    Designing a kernel

    Helllo,
I m currently in my junior year and soon entering into final year in which i have to work on a project.
I'm interested in building a KERNEL of my own. So i need help regarding the basic components and the stages for buliding a kenrel.
Also if an open source ex code is available then it would be very convinient for me to study that and design the kernel.
I am thinking of writing the code in C\C++ or JAVA...Please also suggest me which language would me more helpful in writing the KERNEL.

You may want to read up a little bit first, before you try this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel

You are going to have to know C and some assembly. You won't be able to write a Kernel in Java unless it is some kind of kernel simulator.

Check out www.kernel.org for source code and lots of documentation.

Kernel.org is working just fine. It's an April Fools joke, try this link instead: http://kernel.org/index-normal.shtml
